A plane nearly landed on top of a family’s truck during a whirlwind emergency landing on an Arizona highway — but the stunned dad behind the wheel managed to swerve out of the way just in time.
The Cessna C150, occupied by a lone pilot, careened down onto the US 80 highway in Superior, Arizona, just before 1:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, heart-stopping footage shows.
Kristal Ewing, her husband and their two children were driving home to Mesa following a Mother’s Day hike when they spotted the low-flying plane over the road.

“Woah, look you guys, look, look,” Ewing directed her children when they first noticed the orange-and-white plane, according to footage from their dashboard camera.
Soon, they realized the plane was barreling right towards them.
“Oh my God, why is he so low?” Ewing gasped as the aircraft continued to descend.
“Holy—” Ewing wheezed as her husband veered the truck onto the median strip — positioning their packed vehicle just underneath the plane’s wing as it made a rough landing on the roadway.
The aircraft continued to plow down the empty road, ramming into a sign and nearly tipping on its nose before coming to a screeching halt on the median.

“It’s still kind of surreal when I see the footage. It looks like it happened to someone else or maybe, you know, it was faked, but I was there. It happened,” Ewing told AZFamily.
Miraculously, no one, including the pilot, was injured. The Ewings’ truck only sustained a small scuff mark from the plane’s propeller.
“It’s still kind of shocking when I think about it and how close it really got. Like this could have ended so much worse, but I’m just really thankful that we were all able to walk away. Everyone, even the pilot, was OK,” Ewing said.
The plane’s owner, who wasn’t on the aircraft, told the outlet that he lent it to a friend for a recreational flight. He said that the plane stalled shortly after taking off at the Superior Municipal Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
