FORT MYERS, Fla. — Tuesday’s update on Giancarlo Stanton was that there was no update.
The Yankees veteran DH remained back in New York after leaving camp to fly there on Monday for what the team is calling a “personal” issue, with manager Aaron Boone saying he was still “not sure” when he expects Stanton to return to Tampa.
Boone spoke to Stanton on Monday morning, but declined to offer any other details on his status.
“There’s nothing else more to say right now,” Boone said Tuesday before the Yankees faced the Twins at Hammond Stadium. “Hopefully we see him soon. If he wants to address anything, he can. But there’s really nothing more to answer right now.”
Stanton arrived at camp earlier this month dealing with tennis elbow in both arms, and has now not swung a bat in over a month.

But Boone said the trip to New York was not related to his elbow issues, which had already put his status for Opening Day in doubt.
Through the first week of camp, Stanton had been relegated to doing light agility drills on a backfield and getting treatment on his elbows.
