Why Is Joy Behar Not On ‘The View’?

Joy Behar is still not back on The View, much to the disappointment of her loyal fans. The longtime co-host has been out since Monday (Feb. 3), which was not unusual for her since she works four days per week on the show, but her absence since Tuesday (Feb. 4) has been very much felt around the Hot Topics table.

This morning, Whoopi Goldberg was joined by co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin. Yesterday, the show pulled in an original View co-host, Star Jones, to fill Behar’s empty seat at the table.

On Wednesday’s show, Goldberg introduced Jones — who appeared on the show between 1997 and 2006 — by telling the audience, “Do not try and adjust your television set! Joy is not here today, but joining us at the—” then stopped to acknowledge viewers’ disappointment by saying, “I know, I know,” before turning to Jones and exclaiming “But look! One of the OGs, the fabulous Star Jones.”

When she told the guest host, “Welcome back,” Jones replied, “It’s nice to be back! This is the new stuff up in here,” referring to The View‘s new studio, where they kicked off the start of Season 27 this past fall.

Jones told the table, “Studio looks a little different, table looks a little different, but the camaraderie is the same,” which earned her plenty of applause.

Of course, today we’re all wondering, why is Joy Behar not on The View this week, and why is Joy Behar not on The View today? Here’s what we know about where Behar is this week.

Why is Joy Behar not on The View today?

Goldberg confirmed this morning that Behar would not be on today’s View episode. As she opened the show, she told the audience, “Welcome to The View! First of all, Joy is not here. We wish her happy opening night. It’s tonight.”

She was likely referring to Behar’s theater production My First Ex-Husband, which she wrote and appears in alongside Susie Essman, Tovah Feldshuh and Adrienne C. Moore. Per Playbill, My First Ex-Husband is “a no-holds-barred series of stories created by the legendary Joy Behar. With razor-sharp wit and zero filters, Joy dives into the messy truths of love, marriage, and divorce, revealing the chaotic, funny, and often eye-opening realities of relationships. These stories are as relatable as they are outrageous, offering something for anyone who’s ever tied the knot—or thought about untying it.”

When will Joy Behar be back on The View?

Behar will hopefully be back on the show later this week. On Monday’s show, Goldberg told the audience, “All kinds of stuff is going on today. Joy is not here. She’ll be back tomorrow, we think.” Unfortunately for View fans, we have to wait a bit longer to see the fiery co-host.
