It was an eventful morning on The View. Not only did Joy Behar return to her seat after more than a week of being absent, but Sara Haines accidentally cursed on the air — and unlike most slip-ups, this one wasn’t censored.
Haines’ oopsie came during a conversation about divorced parents, and whether they should find a way to keep the peace for the sake of their children.
“One of the things that you really want to do is you want to keep the kids free from all that BS as long as you can,” Whoopi Goldberg said. “Because what little ones don’t understand is that sometimes it’s not a good idea for y’all to be together. And it’s hard to explain to them because they love you both and they don’t know how to say.”
While Sunny Hostin‘s divorced parents found a way to be “friendly enough” with one another so that they could attend the same family functions, Alyssa Farah Griffin had to “accept” the fact that her parents — who are also divorced and haven’t spoken in decades — were “not meant to be in each other’s lives.” Behar, on the other hand, jokingly said she “begged” her parents to get a divorce but “they wouldn’t do it.”
At the end of the segment, Goldberg turned to her co-hosts and asked, “Well, we’ll never get a divorce, will we?”
That’s when Haines leaned into Goldberg and joked, “If you start telling us about shit.” While she whispered the expletive, her audio wasn’t muted, which is likely why Goldberg looked up at executive producer Brian Teta in shock.
“Oh!” Haines immediately exclaimed once she realized what she said, while Goldberg broke out laughing as she tossed to the commercial break.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
