The Bachelor Season 29 premiered on January 27, and though our new leading man Grant Ellis met 25 eligible bachelorettes (and one llama) on Night 1, only one woman got his first impression rose: Alexe Godin.
Actually, that’s not entirely true. Grant’s very first rose of the season went to his late grandmother, Corine, who was honored with a touching tribute card at the end of the premiere. But after the 31-year-old day trader from New Jersey arrived back at the Bachelor mansion and kicked off his season with limo exits and happy hour chats, he gave his Night 1 first impression rose to Godin, a 27-year-old pediatric speech therapist from New Brunswick, Canada.

According to Alexe Godin’s official ABC bio, the 27-year-old pediatric speech therapist from New Brunswick, Canada is “a small-town girl looking for a big-time love.”
“The Canadian beauty grew up on a farm surrounded by goats, bunnies and chickens, which led to her lifelong love of animals,” the bio continues. “In her free time, she loves to travel, play beach volleyball, and make all her friends laugh. Alexe is bubbly, fluent in French and always knows how to get the party started. She is ready to find the man of her dreams and wants someone who is open-minded, hardworking and an all-around good human. We can’t wait to see if there’s true amour between Alexe and Grant.”

Who Got Grant Ellis‘ First Impression Rose On The Bachelor? How Alexe Godin Secured The First Stem
On Night 1, Alexe walked up to Grant with Linda the No Drama Llama in hand. After the unique first impression, Alexe went so far as to take Linda INSIDE the mansion for a night of selfies with contestants, neck pets, and confessional interviews. While Linda was living her best Bachelor life, Alexe was getting to know her fellow contestants and snagging some alone time with Grant for a charming French lesson that ended with a French kiss. In the moment, Grant told Alexe that she stood out to him because he loved how full of energy she was. When it came time to hand out his first stem of the night, Grant told the camera, “There’s one girl in particular that really stood out… she’s so funny, she’s so quirky, she’s so sweet, and she’s smart. We had the most connection and spark. Everything that she is embodies what I look for in a woman, and I can’t wait to get to know her.”
Grant walked past the other women in the house and pulled Alexe aside to say,”I really enjoyed our time tonight. Aside from being beautiful, I think that you’re funny, you’re smart, you’re intelligent, and I had a great time. So Alexe, will you accept this rose?” Alexe said yes, and thought it was incredibly validating that Grant was seeing her for her — quirks, llama, and all.
In an interview with Decider, Grant explained, “Alexe and I had a lot of really good conversation and we both laughed a lot. And I think that’s what really drew me to her. The sense of humor that she had and just the friendship that I felt like our relationship had when meeting her for the first time. And then I’m an animal lover. So the No Drama Llama definitely didn’t hurt.”
