Westeros Awaits… Again: ‘Game of Thrones’ Movie In The Works At Warner Bros.

Another day, another Game of Thrones project.

Page Six Hollywood reports that a Game of Thrones movie is in development at Warner Bros., with Andor writer and House of Cards showrunner Beau Willimon having already submitted a draft to the studio. Sources informed the outlet that the film might follow Aegon I, who never appeared onscreen across eight seasons of Game of Thrones, but who conquered the fictional content of Westeros in the series.

DECIDER reached out to a representative for Willimon, but did not hear back by time of publication.

The news arrives on the heels of Netflix opting out of the bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, with Paramount Skydance’s now set to acquire the studio and its streaming assets. As noted by Page Six Hollywood, this development may interfere with the Game of Thrones movie coming to fruition.

Based on George R.R. Martin‘s novel A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones starred Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Lena Headey, and Peter Dinklage. While the original Game of Thrones concluded its run in 2019, the series spawned two spinoffs: House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

In November 2025, Martin said “there are other Game of Thrones spinoff projects in development” outside of House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

“Most are prequels,” he teased at an event covered by Los Siete Reinos. There are several in development, five or six series; and I’m not developing them alone, I’m working with other people. Yes, there are some sequels.”

Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are streaming on HBO Max.
