Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Ill.) is set to give the Democratic response following President Trump’s joint address to Congress Tuesday evening.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) announced late last month that Slotkin, elected to the upper chamber last November, would give the rebuttal. The Illinois Senator comes from a state that Trump notably flipped in 2024.
Slotkin is also one of several Democrats who invited a fired federal worker to attend the speech. Andrew Lennox, a veteran recently fired from the Veterans Affairs Department in Ann Arbor, Mich., will be her guest.
Her response is scheduled to begin around 10:45 p.m. EST.
