Watch live: Senate environment panel considers improvements to permitting process

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) will convene Wednesday morning to discuss ways to improve the environmental review and permitting process amid President Trump’s efforts to roll back environmental protections.

All eyes have been on Trump in recent weeks as the administration moves to oust thousands of employees across the federal government, including many working to protect the environment. Consequences of the decision could range from worsened responses to pollution to less access at national parks, according to experts and former federal employees.

The hearing comes less than a month after Trump paused approvals for new renewable energy projects on public lands and in public waters.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m.
