The National Transportation Safety Board will provide an update on Friday afternoon on its investigation into Wednesday night’s fatal aircraft collision near Washington, D.C.’s National Airport.
The NTSB, which is leading the probe, has urged the public not to speculate on what caused the fatal collision between an American Airlines passenger plane and Army Black Hawk helicopter, which left 67 people dead.
Emergency response crews, which did not expect to find survivors, have thus far recovered more than 40 bodies and several aircraft parts, including the flight recorders, from the icy Potomac River.
The update comes after the Unified Command of local and federal officials gave remarks on recovery efforts.
The event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. EST.
