Watch live: JD Vance kicks off CPAC Day 1

Vice President Vance will kick off the general session of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington on Thursday morning.

During a chat with CPAC’s Mercedes Schlapp, Vance is set to highlight the administration’s efforts since President Trump returned to the White House last month, focusing primarily on border security, immigration, energy and the economy, a source familiar told The Hill’s partner NewsNation.

The conference, which runs from Thursday to Saturday in Maryland, will offer something of a victory lap for Trump and the GOP after the president decisively won battleground states and made inroads with key voting blocs last November.

But even as many Republicans rally around Trump, who is set to speak at the event later this week, fault lines have emerged within the party.

The chat is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
