Two Long Island cop unions give full support for Trump FBI director

Two Long Island police unions voiced their support for President Trump’s nominee for director of the FBI Kash Patel as he testified in front of the Senate Thursday.

Both Nassau County’s and Suffolk County’s police unions wrote endorsement letters to the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Ia.) lauding Kash Patel — a Long Island native — who is thrilled to have the support of Long Island’s boys in blue.

“Amazing, thank you so much. My home town, means so much. Strong Island,” Kash wrote the Police Benevolent Association of Nassau County and the Suffolk County PBA upon hearing of their endorsement.

“His vast experience in multiple levels of law enforcement and national security provides the necessary insight and offers a unique perspective on keeping our communities and Nation safe,” Nassau County PBA President Thomas Shevlin wrote in a letter, adding, “These qualities will help him serve as a strong and capable leader who can effectively tackle Federal, State, and Local crime.”

The Suffolk County PBA endorsed Patel’s, 44, ability to manage the expansive executive agency which has nearly 40,000 employees.

“The FBI’s mission of safeguarding and serving all Americans relies on strong leadership that emphasizes operational effectiveness and teamwork at all levels,” union president Louis Civello wrote.

“Mr. Patel’s proven success in tackling complex national security challenges and his strong conviction to follow the rule of law makes him the ideal person for this role,” Civello added.
