Trump inauguration moved indoors because of cold

President-elect Trump’s inauguration ceremony is being moved indoors because of expected bitter cold in Washington, D.C., on Monday, an official familiar with the matter confirmed to The Hill.

Trump and Vice President-elect Vance are expected to be sworn in inside the Capitol Rotunda rather than on the west front of the Capitol.

Spokespeople for the inauguration committee and the Trump transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

High temperatures on Monday are expected to be in the low 20s, with the wind chill making it feel like the single digits.

The Washington Post reported Trump’s inauguration was on track to be the coldest since former President Ronald Reagan’s 1985 ceremony, which was also moved inside because of the temperature.

The shift means fewer people will be able to watch the proceedings live from outside the Capitol, though they will be broadcast on television.
