President Donald Trump approves of the relationship between Tiger Woods and his ex-daughter-in-law, Vanessa Trump.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump was asked about Woods becoming part of the broader Trump clan, to which the president declared that “I love Tiger and I love Vanessa” while also speaking highly of the relationship once shared between his son Don Jr. and Vanessa.
The Post confirmed earlier this month that the 49-year-old golf legend and Vanessa, 47, had quietly begun seeing one another romantically and Woods made things official in a post on social media.
While Trump seemed supportive of the burgeoning relationship, he sounded a bit melancholy while discussing the end of Don Jr. and Vanessa’s marriage.
Vanessa filed for divorce in 2018 and Trump believed that their marriage had been “hurt very badly” by the “witch hunt” in regards to investigations into the president and Russia.
“Vanessa and Don had a very good relationship,” Trump said on Monday. “They have five incredible children. All good athletes, all great students. They broke up quite a while ago, which, to me, was very sad because I think they’re both great, Don and Vanessa. Tiger actually called me a few months ago. I have a special, very good relationship with Tiger. I played golf with him a couple of times over the past month and he’s a fantastic guy and a fantastic athlete.

“He told me about it and I said, ‘Tiger, that’s good.’ I’m very happy for both [of them]. Just let them both be happy.”
Woods and Vanessa have been seeing each other dating back to around Thanksgiving, the Daily Mail previously reported.
Page Six had reported that Woods had been “hesitant” to take things beyond a friendship because Woods has a close relationship with Trump.
Woods made the decision to make the relationship official after whispers started to spread around the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, where Woods’ son Charlie, 16, and daughter Sam, 17, and Vanessa’s daughter Kai, 17, all attend, the Daily Mail reported.
