Trevor Lawrence’s wife Marissa thanks fans for ‘support and love’ after ugly hit

Marissa Lawrence appreciated the support after a scary moment involving her husband, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, during Sunday’s loss to the Texans.

In a post on her Instagram story, she thanked those who had been reaching out after the hit by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

“Thank you for all the texts and prayers,” she wrote. “Just taking time to make sure he’s okay and get(s) healthy but we appreciate all the support and love.”

Lawrence was seen walking out of the Jags locker room with his wife.

Lawrence was dangerously hit while he was sliding to end a six-yard quarterback rush late in the first half and was later carted off the field.

Al-Shaair caught the Jags QB in the head on the hit and it ended up leading to a shoving match between the two teams.

Al-Shaair was kicked out of the game for the hit.

“It was a dirty hit,” tight end Evan Engram said, per ESPN. “Obviously those hits are always in question. Trevor was going down and I saw it out of my peripheral [vision]. I got a pretty clear view of it, and in that moment, just [reacted on] instincts. It just didn’t feel like a clean hit, so just go stick up for my quarterback.

“I mean, I saw him sliding and then I saw the hit, and then just, honestly, it just took over. I just knew it was wrong. It was just a dirty play, and you stick up for your guys.”

Lawrence had been making the first start since Week 10 when he suffered a sprained left AC joint and missed the team’s next two games.

The Jaguars QB completed four passes for 41 yards before he had to come out of the game.

“It’s unfortunate. It’s a play that really has no business being in our league,” Jags coach Doug Pederson said.
