‘The View’s Sunny Hostin Says Trump Has “Diabolical” Plans For Third Term: “He’s His Own Successor”

Sunny Hostin is sounding the alarm. The View co-host warned on this morning’s episode that President Donald Trump could be planning a third term in the White House, even though the Constitution prevents any president from serving more than two terms.

During a discussion about Trump’s remarks to Fox News that he doesn’t see Vice President J.D. Vance as his obvious successor in the 2028 election, Hostin said she saw a sinister side to the president’s comment.

“I think he’s doing something a little bit more diabolical, if I’m being honest,” Hostin said, before pointing to Rep. Andy Ogles’ proposal to change the 22nd amendment so Trump can serve a third term.

Hostin said Trump won’t name Vance as his successor because “he thinks he’s his own successor,” while quoting Ogles’ proposal, which states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times.”

Hostin told the panel, “The argument is that Trump needs more time to accomplish his agenda and reverse the policies of the Biden administration.”

While she noted that it’s going to be “very hard” to put the proposal in action to change the Constitution, she did say, “There are a couple of ways that he could try to get there. He could just try to stay in office, right?”

Although Trump could be planning for a third term, Joy Behar — who is thankfully back after a full week off from the show, finally! — proposed that President Barack Obama could seek a third term, too, which thrilled the audience.

When she asked Hostin, “Doesn’t that mean that Obama could run also?” her co-host replied, “Well, you would think so.”

The exchange brought whoops and cheers from the audience, who loudly applauded the idea. We’re barely a month into 2025, but we can already tell 2028 is sure to be interesting.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
