Joy Behar is having a difficult time understanding why someone like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who, according to Alyssa Farah Griffin, lacks the “Kennedy rizz” — would support President Donald Trump.
On this morning’s episode of The View, the ladies devoted the first Hot Topics segment to criticizing Kennedy’s performance at his confirmation hearing earlier this week, where Democrats grilled him on past statements he made about vaccinations and abortions.
“They come in like they don’t know they’re going to be asked these questions. They all look in shock … What the hell is going on here?!” Whoopi Goldberg said of Trump’s nominees, with the exception of Trump’s Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. Kennedy, for his part, is slated to run the Department of Health and Human Services.
Behar, meanwhile, cut right to the chase, calling Trump’s appointees “phonies” and claiming they were “faking it.”
“I understand why these congresspeople bend over backward for Trump because they don’t want to go back to their jobs as exterminators and undertakers,” she said. “But why would a Kennedy who comes from the [one of the] richest, most effective families in the country have to get on his knees to this guy? I don’t understand it.”
“Why does Elon Musk, who’s almost a trillionaire, have to cower down to Donald Trump?” she continued. “What is it that he has over these people?”
When her fellow co-hosts reminded her that Trump has “power,” Behar slammed his followers for their lack of “personal power.”
“Well, you know there’s such a thing as personal power,” she pointed out. “They do not have personal power. They may have power when they’re sitting in those offices. They’re hypocrites and they’re liars. And that is not personal power.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
