Whoopi Goldberg issued a reminder to Elon Musk on this morning’s episode of The View: He was never on the ballot in 2024.
The ladies kicked off Wednesday’s episode by discussing Musk’s Feb. 11 Oval Office press conference, in which he defended his massive cuts to federal agencies through his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative.
“Over the last 10 years, Musk companies Space X and Tesla were awarded at least $18 billion in federal contracts,” Goldberg said, noting, “Since the president’s election, his net worth has increased $64 billion, or nearly 25%.”
She then proposed, “So yeah, I’m going to say: You want to cut something? Cut some of the stuff you’re taking out.”
Her remark earned plenty of approval from the audience, who loudly applauded. When their clapping died down, Goldberg added, “I get that there’s fat everywhere, and yes, we’d all like to see less of it. But what you’re doing is a lot more than just cutting fat.”
She then reminded Musk, “Nobody elected you. That’s the part, that’s the part.”
When it was time for Alyssa Farah Griffin to give her take, she suggested Musk is in the Oval Office for a very clear reason.
“I do want to note one thing, ’cause some people are like,’Elon’s actually in charge, it’s not Trump,’” Griffin said. “I actually think that Trump is doing something strategic by having Elon own this, because it’s going to get less and less popular when people see that things they like are being taken away, and he’s gonna blame Elon.”
She also predicted trouble in paradise for President Donald Trump and Musk, telling the panel, “This relationship isn’t gonna last.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
