‘The View’: Sunny Hostin Calls Out “Angry White Woman” Rep. Nancy Mace For Asking Colleague To “Take It Outside”

Rep. Nancy Mace may have stopped by The View back in 2023, but an appearance on the show doesn’t necessarily earn a guest future good will, which became clear this morning. The Republican congresswoman stirred up plenty of disgust at the Hot Topics panel today for her behavior at a House meeting on Tuesday (Jan. 14), when she lashed out at Rep. Jasmine Crockett for referring to her as “child.”

In the interaction, which was replayed on The View, Crockett suggested Mace is trying to stir up unnecessary and unfounded concerns amongst her constituents about transgender Americans.

“I can see that somebody’s campaign coffers really are struggling right now. So [Mace] is gonna keep saying ‘trans, trans, trans, trans’ so that people will feel threatened, and child, listen —” Crockett said, but she was interrupted by Mace, who exclaimed, “I am no child, do not call me a child, I am no child.”

She then told Crockett, “If you want to take it outside, we can do that.”

Sunny Hostin, after watching the clip, said she was “struck” by how “uncivilized” and “wild” Mace appeared during the hearing.

“The trope of the ‘angry Black woman’ is used so often and I wonder where the trope of the ‘angry white woman’ is,” Hostin said, prompting Joy Behar to interject, “It was right there, we saw it!”

Hostin continued, “I’d like to see her — for asking a Black woman to ‘meet me outside’ or ‘catch me outside’ — called an angry white woman. So let us be clear: This was never about qualifications, this was never about DEI. We all know what this was about.”

Mace later claimed on X that she was not asking Crockett to come outside to escalate the exchange. She wrote, “Let me be clear: I wanted to take the conversation off the floor to have a more constructive conversation, not to fight. At no point was there any intention of causing harm to anyone.”

In her own post on X, Crockett slammed Mace as “an attention seeking loser who clearly has some fundraising goals to hit,” adding, “and to be clear that is the only thing that she will hit.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
