President Joe Biden hasn’t even left the White House yet, but Joy Behar is already mourning the end of his presidency. On this morning’s episode of The View, the co-hosts recapped Biden’s Jan. 15 farewell address, in which he not-so-indirectly called out president elect Donald Trump and warned of threats to the United States’ democracy posed by an “oligarchy” of the uber-rich.
Behar, after watching a brief clip of President Biden’s comments, confessed that she’s already dreading his departure in the coming days and already feels his loss.
“I miss him already. I miss him,” she said. “He’s a good person. You know, he spent the last 50 years caring about the country.”
Taking a page from Whoopi Goldberg‘s book, she declined to named Trump when she said, “This other one spent 50 years scamming everybody and trying to stay out of jail. You know who I’m talking about.”
She repeated, “I really miss Biden,” before telling the panel, “I feel like we were safe, like, I didn’t have to worry everything would blow up. I could live my life while he was there. Now every day I wake up and I worry, ‘What is this guy gonna do next?’”
She then asked, “Can I just say one more thing and then I’ll shut up?” but Goldberg, ever loyal, assured her, “You don’t have to shut up!”
Behar forged ahead, proclaiming that the oligarchs Biden warned about “need to start shelling their money out. These guys — [Jeff] Bezos and [Elon] Musk — they give it to Trump. Do they think that they’re going to live forever, these people? You know, everybody dies. I hate to break it to them, but you are not gonna live forever.”
She then cited a World Food Program stat that world hunger could be solved by 2030 with $40 billion.
“Elon Musk, his net worth grew by $170 billion in the month after the election,” Behar exclaimed, as Goldberg retorted, “Oh, just wait, just wait.”
Behar, disgusted, remarked, “Nothing is done with that money to help people. It’s just to increase their power.”
