If you couldn’t find a spare three-and-a-half hours to go see The Brutalist in theaters, good news: The Brutalist is now available to buy on digital to watch at home.
Directed by Brady Corbet (Melancholia, Vox Lux), with a script co-written by Corbet and Mona Fastvold, The Brutalist is a harrowing epic that follows the life of a Hungarian-born Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor, named László Tóth. Oscar winner Adrian Brody stars in the lead role, and may just get another Academy Award for his portrayal of an immigrant struggling to achieve the American Dream, who has his life turned around by a wealthy industrialist named Harrison Lee Van Buren (played by Guy Pearce).
The Brutalist has won numerous awards over the last few months, including the Golden Globe for Best Picture, Drama last month. It’s a favorite for Best Picture at the upcoming 2025 Oscars, so if you care about the Academy Awards, you’ll definitely want to watch The Brutalist. And now you can do so with even more bathroom breaks.

Beginning on Tuesday, February 18, you will be able to buy a digital copy of The Brutalist on platforms like Amazon Prime, Vudu, Apple TV, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to buy the film, but on Amazon, the film cost $19.99 to buy a digital copy. The Brutalist will not yet be available to rent online.
The Brutalist is not currently available to stream on any subscription-based services, but the film will eventually be coming to streaming, on Max. This is because the movie is being distributed by A24, and the 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery brings A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the streaming service Max.
Can you rent The Brutalist online?
The Brutalist is not yet available to rent online. Right now, you can only buy the film on digital platforms for $19.99 via Amazon Prime, Vudu, Apple TV, and more.
When will The Brutalist be streaming on Max?
The Brutalist streaming release date on Max has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when you can expect to see The Brutalist on Max.
The A24 deal is a “Pay-1 deal,” which means A24 movies will start streaming on Max in the “Pay 1 window,” meaning that Max will be the first “TV channel” to pay for the rights to The Brutalist, after the film has been released on digital and home media. One recent A24 title, We Live in Time, began streaming on Max on February 7— about four months after its release in theaters, and about three months after its release on digital. If The Brutalist follows a similar release strategy, you’ll see The Brutalist streaming on Max around April or May 2025. That said, perhaps the movie will come to streaming sooner, to capitalize on awards season.
