Sydney Sweeney reveals how she dropped 30 pounds in less than 2 months

Sydney Sweeney is breaking down the “strict” regimen that allowed her to drop 30 pounds in less than two months.

The actress explained to People, in an interview published Monday, that she gained weight for her new boxing film, “Christy,” by “eating so much food.”

To slim down, the 28-year-old stopped working out and cut all of the protein shakes she had been “downing” for the Christy Martin biopic, which allowed her to lose all the muscle she had amassed.

“It’s the first thing to go before fat,” she explained. “So, that, I dropped within two weeks.”

She had also been “taking a lot of creatine” for the role, “which just makes you bloat,” so she “stopped all of that” once filming wrapped.

The rest of Emmy nominee’s weight loss journey involved a “super clean” diet and “a lot of cardio” in order to get back to her typical slim physique.

Sweeney, notably, only had seven weeks before she began filming “The Housemaid”  and the third season of “Euphoria.”

“I had to be really strict with myself,” she told the outlet.

After clarifying that “this might be the one and only” time she changes her appearance this much for a role, the “White Lotus” alum quipped that she’s grateful her “metabolism works really well.”

“I don’t want to say this is super easy,” she insisted. “But I’ve been a very active person my entire life. Like, I was a super active kid, and I’ve always kind of just stayed active and always had a good metabolism. I can gain weight, but I can lose it too.”

When photos of Sweeney looking unrecognizable on the “Christy” set began to surface last year, trolls body-shamed her online — but she clapped back with an impressive video.

In December 2024, the “Handmaid’s Tale” alum shared Instagram footage featuring several mean screenshots from cyberbullies calling her “too pale,” “frumpy” and “an average chunky Yankee girl.”

The clip then switched to footage of Sweeney’s intense training routine in preparation for the role, from flipping tires to doing cable pull-ups.

Earlier this month, a source exclusively told Page Six that the physically demanding role helped Sweeney find her inner toughness.

“Sydney went through a lot with someone in her past who mistreated her,” the insider said. “This person used her and took advantage of her — including financially.”

Playing Christy “gave her the strength to remind herself who she is,” the individual added.

Sweeney announced her role in the David Michôd-helmed biopic with an emotional statement in October 2024.

“I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman – a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring,” she wrote via Instagram. “Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story.”

Although the movie did not perform well in the box office, Sweeney recently assured her social media followers that “we don’t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact.”
