Searchlight is officially flipping on the sirens again: Super Troopers 3 will hit theaters on August 7, 2026, pulling over summer moviegoers just in time for peak blockbuster season.
The comedy threequel will face some stiff competition on opening weekend, going up against Universal’s Will Gluck–directed comedy One Night Only and an untitled New Line release. But the Broken Lizard crew has never shied away from a challenge — especially when a patrol car is involved.
Jay Chandrasekhar is back behind the camera and back in uniform as Thorny, reuniting with fan favorites Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, who return as Farva, Mac, Foster, and Rabbit. The franchise is also welcoming new faces to the force: Oscar winner Nat Faxon (The Way Way Back) suits up as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford (The Boys) joins as Baker Buchanan, and Andrew Dismukes (Saturday Night Live) signs on as Coy Burns. Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudnitsky, and Lisa Gilroy round out the cast. Plot details are still locked down tighter than a pulled-over speed demon.
The original Super Troopers debuted at Sundance back in 2001 before being picked up by Fox Searchlight, eventually snagging the Audience Award at SXSW and earning its cult-comedy status. A sequel arrived in 2018, with both films written by and starring the full Broken Lizard ensemble. Together, the pair grossed $55 million worldwide off a combined budget of under $15 million — a pretty sweet deal for a bunch of troopers wreaking roadside havoc.
In other Disney-adjacent movie news, it was announced earlier today that the studio will re-release the Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Endgame — the second highest-grossing film of all time — in theaters on September 25, 2026, ahead of their upcoming Avengers: Doomsday on December 18.
