‘SNL’ Writer Boldly Mocks Morgan Wallen’s Dramatic Exit After Country Star Walked Off Stage Early

In true Saturday Night Live fashion, writer Josh Patten wasted no time in satirizing Morgan Wallen‘s dramatic exit at the end of the show after the country singer performed two of his new singles on March 29.

Wallen joined Anora star Mikey Madison on her hosting debut, just weeks out from her Oscar win. The stars shared a quick hug as credits began to roll on the NBC sketch show before Wallen did something rather unprecedented: He walked off stage without saying a word to the rest of the SNL cast.

The move was noticed by multiple cast members, who eyed the singer as he stormed off stage; however, the show ended without a hitch.

Wallen’s shocking move was soon followed up by an Instagram story post shared from his private jet that read, “Get me to God’s country.”

Patten soon imitated Wallen’s dramatic social media post with one of his own. He shared a photo of a Krispy Kreme truck with the same caption, “Get me to God’s country.”

But Patten quickly dispelled reports that he wasn’t a fan of Wallen’s music. He shared a screenshot on his Instagram Story of his playlist from 2023 that included some of the artist’s songs.

He also shared part of one media report that asked, “Guessing Patten’s not a Morgan Wallen fan?” and responded with an eye-roll emoji.

But Patten did not address Wallen’s decision to snub the Saturday Night Live cast members.

The evening marked Wallen’s second time on SNL after his 2020 debut on the show. But the singer already had a storied past with the NBC series. He was initially invited to SNL in October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the invitation was rescinded when he was caught partying without a mask before the appearance. Wallen was invited back onto the show just two months later.

Per TMZ, Wallen did not mean anything by the mishap on Saturday night.

The outlet reported, “We’re told he entered and exited the studio the same way he did Saturday night during rehearsal and camera blocking all week leading up to the live show … so he routinely headed that way when he thought it was time to go.”

Wallen has yet to publicly address the awkward situation himself.
