Small airplane crashes into river near DC’s Reagan National Airport, grounding all flights

A small airplane crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport in Virginia Wednesday night, according to fire officials.

Fireboats are on the scene after the aircraft went down in Arlington, the DC Fire and EMS Department posted to X just after 9 p.m.

Planes were grounded and the Federal Aviation Administration shuttered the airport, WIJA reported.

Reagan National Airport will remain closed until 11 p.m., and the ground stop is expected to remain in effect until 10:30 p.m.
