Shedeur Sanders says he won’t attend 2025 NFL Draft

Don’t expect to see Shedeur Sanders at the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in April.

Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Deion Sanders and a projected top-10 pick, said in an interview with Overtime this week that he wouldn’t be attending the draft in person so that he can spend the day with the people who have supported him on his football journey.

He’ll likely host an event in Colorado or Dallas the day of the draft, he said.

“We plan on doing it, like an event thing, and where it’ll be fun,” Sanders said. “It’ll be more family, friends be able to come because the only thing with going to the draft is just I want to spend those moments with my people. You gotta think, having everybody come out there, bro, it’s going to be so expensive. Cost-wise, you saving a lot of money. You get to be around your people and all that.

“It’s not just me that was able to get to this point. It’s like a team. It was a team thing and it was a team of people that helped me. Allowed me to get to where I am now. I want to be able to make sure I’m able to enjoy that with everybody and nobody be in uncomfortable situations just for traveling and just to show support.”

Sanders is one of the names to watch for in the first few picks of the draft, with the University of Colorado product potentially going within the first five picks.

Though it’s unclear which team will take Sanders, the first three teams picking in the draft are all — in theory — in the market for a quarterback.

Interestingly enough, the Browns, who have the second overall pick, are his favorite team to play with in the EA Sports video game series, “Madden.”
