‘Severance’ on Apple TV+ and More

The Apple TV+ series Severance is back this week, and better than ever, but that show is just one of several great titles we’ve been anticipating. Prime Video’s underdog sports drama Unstoppable and the action comedy Back In Action on Netflix are also making their way to our screens this weekend; if you need me, you’ll find me glued to the couch. Not sure which new releases to check out? Let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.

New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Severance, Back In Action, Unstoppable + More

In Severance, you’re either innie or you’re outie. The wildly original series starring Adam Scott and produced by Ben Stiller premieres on Friday, with new episodes dropping weekly. On Netflix, check out Back In Action; the film marks Cameron Diaz’s return to acting, and it also happens to be the project Jamie Foxx was working on when he went through his health scare in 2023. And on Prime Video, Jennifer Lopez and Jharrel Jerome star in the sports drama Unstoppable.

New on Apple TV+ January 17: Severance (Season 2)

Season one of Severance was, for me at least, hard to get into. But after sticking with it for a few episodes, the season’s arcs and mysteries truly paid off. The show is about a group of employees working for a mysterious company who have all had a surgery that separates their personal lives and memories from their work memories. Though they forget everything about their work day once they leave the building, the nature of their work and their curiosity about it starts to cause problems in both halves of their lives. The show stars Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Patricia Arquette and John Turturro.

After about a decade-long break from acting, Cameron Diaz returns, alongside her three-time co-star Jamie Foxx, for the action comedy Back in Action. In the Netflix original, out on Friday, the two star as a married couple trying to leave their life as spies behind them to raise a family, when they’re unexpectedly pulled back in to their old jobs.

New on Prime Video January 16: Unstoppable

Anthony Robles is a wrestler who was born without a leg who defied all the odds to succeed in the sport. Unstoppable, based on the true events of Robles’ life, stars Jharrel Jerome alongside an all-star ensemble that includes Jennifer Lopez, Michael Peña and Don Cheadle to tell his defiant, uplifting story.
