Selena Gomez on ‘Emilia Perez’ Karla Sofia Gascon’s scandal

Selena Gomez has finally addressed the controversy over her “Emilia Perez” co-star Karla Sofía Gascón’s resurfaced tweets.

The actress and singer, 32, admitted that “some of the magic has disappeared” when she was asked how she’s doing at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on Sunday.

“But I choose to continue to be proud of what I’ve done, and I’m just grateful,” Gomez said.

“I live with no regrets,” the Golden Globe nominee added, “and I would do this movie over and over again if I could.”

Gasccón, 52, has been facing backlash after several of her social media posts resurfaced, in which she criticized Muslim culture and George Floyd.

She even allegedly called Gomez a “rich rat” before being cast with her in “Emilia Perez.”

The alleged since-deleted tweet was shared in 2022 after Gomez and Hailey Bieber came together at the Annual Academy Museum Gala amid their alleged feud, according to the Latin Times.

However, Gasccón told CNN en Español last week that the tweet about Gomez is fake.

“Of course that’s not mine,” Gasccón said during the interview, which she allegedly did without Netflix’s approval.

“I have never said anything about my partner. I would never refer to her that way,” the actress added.

Gasccón’s controversy is looming large on next month’s Academy Awards. She’s the first openly transgender performer to be nominated for an Oscar.

During her CNN en Español interview, Gasccón denied the claims of racism and stood by her Academy Award nomination.

“I cannot step down from an Oscar nomination because I have not committed any crime, nor have I harmed anyone,” she said. “I am neither racist nor anything that all these people have tried to make others believe I am.”

Zoe Saldaña, who is also nominated for an Oscar for “Emilia Perez,” said that she’s “disappointed” over the drama involving her co-star on Variety’s “Awards Circuit” podcast last week.

“I’m sad. Time and time again, that’s the word because that is the sentiment that has been living in my chest since everything happened,” Saldaña said.

The film’s director, Jacques Audiard, called Gascón’s actions “inexcusable” in a Feb. 5 interview with Deadline.

“When you have that kind of relationship and suddenly you read something that that person has said, things that are absolutely hateful and worthy of being hated, of course that relationship is affected. It’s as if you fall into a hole,” he said.

Audiard added, “I haven’t spoken to her, and I don’t want to.”
