A former New York City Hall staffer caught up in Mayor Eric Adams’ historic bribery case has cut a deal with feds — raising speculation he could flip on Hizzoner.
Mohamed Bahi, 40, has agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the government for allegedly skirting campaign finance laws during Adams’ initial run for office, according to the Friday filing in Manhattan federal court.
The feds say Bahi, the mayor’s liaison to the Muslim community, is expected to plead guilty as part of the deal that his defense team and feds have been hammering out for months — which could indicate he’ll cooperate in the case.
It was not known if the arrangement would have any effect on Bahi’s other criminal case from October that alleges he obstructed federal authorities.
His attorney did not return calls for comment.
Bahi will be the second person to plead out as part of the mayor’s bribery case following Turkish businessman Erden Arkan last month.
Arkan, the owner of KSK Construction, copped to a single count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and admitted to illegally donating to the Adams campaign.
Adams has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. Calls to his attorney, Alex Spiro, were not returned.
Bahi was not named in the mayor’s indictment back in September but referred to in court papers as “Adams employee-1.”
The feds allege that Bahi set up a straw donor scheme to allow a New York City businessman to donate more than legally allowed and still get public matching funds during Adams’ 2021 campaign.
He abruptly resigned in October just before his bombshell obstruction case was revealed in which prosecutors alleged he named-dropped Adams to encourage a donor to lie to the FBI.
In that case, he faces charges of witness tampering and destroying evidence, both of which come with prison sentences of up to 20 years.
Bahi is accused of using the mayor’s name to push a businessman — who appears to be Uzbek American contractor Tolib Mansurov — and four of his employees to lie to the feds.
According to the court papers, Adams, who is identified as “Official-1″ in the complaint, “believed that the Businessman would not cooperate with law enforcement,” Bahi told Mansurov.
