I’m working through some questions in the book She Shall Be Praised by Gina Martin. You may recall I did a review of her book back in October.
In chapter three in the For Further Study section she has us read Ecclesiastes 3:1-14. Those of us who are a certain older age might recognize the words from the song Turn,Turn,Turn by the Byrds. The song was written by Pete Seeger back in 1965. I listened to his version and for reasons I can’t explain, it made me teary-eyed.
In the For Reflection questions Gina asks us three questions and I will share my answers .
How would I describe my season of life today? I’ve entered the age where I just signed up for Medicare. Wanna see my Medicare card?😀 ( I interrupt this answer with a public service announcement)No way! Ladies never, ever post a picture of your Medicare card. And do not under any circumstances give your Medicare number to a stranger over the phone claiming to be from Medicare saying that Medicare is giving extra benefits like dental, vision, food cards etc. Most if all Medicare Advantage plans already have these benfits. They are NOT trying to get you to change Medicare plan but they want your number to defraud the goverment. These calls are usually coming from India or Pakistan. Just hang up.
Now back to my answering first question. It is a weird thing being in this season and I’m grateful to the Lord for giving me almost 65 years (65 on New Years Eve) of life on this earth.
How do I wish this season were different ? I will be honest. I miss those young mother days. I loved taking my children to the park to play. It was so fun singing Christian songs with them (remember Psalty the hynmal? and the constant rewinding of the tape because they wanted to hear the same song again. And again. And again.
Are these within my power to change, or do I need to accept this season? I can’t change anything about this season. I just need to accept it and enjoy it. There are some cool benefits my
Medicare plan has like a debit card for buying OTC supplies like vitamins, lady pads (if you know what I mean) healthy foods and more.
I want to use this time to continue to recover from shoulder surgery which unfortunately my range of motion is not where it should be and I might have to have a second surgery.
I’m also working on losing weight and I’m using YouTube videos as my “gym”. My weight keeps going up and down. At this age , its harder to lose weight. I’m going to try to get to everyone’s blog today. As usual I’m behind in reading blogs. I also hope to post a couple of videos I watched recently on making prayer Bibles. Take care!
