“Saturday Night Live” is heading across the pond, with a new U.K. version of the late-night sketch comedy show poised to hit airwaves next year.
“A star-studded lineup of hosts will take to the stage to declare, ‘Live from London, it’s Saturday Night!’ in this brand-new edition of the program,” Sky, a European entertainment giant, announced Thursday.
Just like the U.S. show, “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels will executive produce the program airing in the U.K.
“The London-based series will follow the same live, fast-paced style that has made the show a cultural phenomenon with iconic hosts, musical guests and a core cast of the funniest British comedians around,” Sky said in a news release.
“Saturday Night Live,” which premiered on NBC in the U.S. in 1975 and recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, regularly features sketches skewering lawmakers and pulling from the headlines, along with occasional cameos from real-life political figures.
Last November, then-Vice President Harris appeared on the show just days ahead of the presidential election.
President Trump, who serves as a frequent “SNL” punchline, has repeatedly criticized it over the years, calling the show “unwatchable.”
“Saturday Night Live UK” will air in the UK and Ireland beginning in 2026.
