San Vicente West Village — the NYC outpost of LA’s starriest private club — will officially open in early March, after hosting a 50th anniversary bash for “SNL” next month, sources exclusively tell Page Six.
The club in the former Jane Hotel has enlisted a select group of ambassadors to recruit new members, and one VIP who has seen spot told us, “It feels like an old English club, but not in a clichéd way . . . it’s much more modern and timeless.”
The ambassador list is confidential, but one excited ambassador — who remained anonymous for fear of losing their coveted position — sent us the VIP video which will accompany invitations to new members.
Owner Jeff Klein has been working with London’s hottest decorator Rose Uniacke on the interiors. The video shows off the spot’s lobby, dining room, screening room, studio, rooftop terrace and more.
And we hear he’s told the ambassadors, “We want class not mass.”
He also told New York mag: “Money doesn’t matter . . . There are so many billionaires that we have rejected in West Hollywood, because, why are you interesting? Because you’re rich? That doesn’t make you interesting.”
An insider huffed to Page Six without naming names: “I know a lot of the ambassadors, but maybe not as well as I thought? I need to find a member to nominate me. It’s like Willy Wonka’s golden ticket.”
But one ambassador with those proverbial golden tickets told us, “There is so much pressure from people who hear I’m an ambassador to add them, but I am trying to follow the directive and be selective… They’re being so tough about it, they’re like the curation police!”
There’s a committee that reviews all applications.
The club’s flagship San Vicente Bungalows opened in 2018 in West Hollywood, and its second club, San Vicente Santa Monica recently opened on the beach. (That location has not been affected by the LA wildfires.)
The club is known for its high-profile clientele, and a strict no photos policy to protect members’ anonymity.
We previously reported that even Leonardo DiCaprio borrowed San Vicente Bungalows’ branded phone camera stickers to prevent his own guests from snapping pics at his very private 50th birthday party.
The West Coast club is well-known as the entertainment biz’s fave watering hole, and the original has regularly hosted bold-face names like DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston, Miley Cyrus, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Elon Musk, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Lopez, Sydney Sweeney, Zoe Kravitz, Jon Hamm, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and many more.
Klein — who’s also behind the famed Sunset Tower — told New York in 2022 of his plans, “Private clubs remind me of boutique hotels in the early ’90s when I started learning the industry.”
