Regina Hall had a shocking response on Today With Jenna & Friends when Jenna Bush Hager asked the actress if she wanted to act since she was a little girl.
According to the Girls Trip star, her aspirations looked very different at six years old.
“No, not necessarily. I wanted to be a Playboy playmate when I was like six,” she told Bush Hager, who laughed.
“I think I saw a show when they were rollerskating, and I went up to my mom because I was like, ‘That’s what I want to do when I grow up!’ I want to roller skate in the sun around the pool. That’s what I thought they did,” she explained.
“Yeah, in a cute little outfit,” Bush Hager responded. “What did your mom say?”
Hall said her mother “didn’t blow it out of proportion.”
“She said, ‘That’s nice, honey, maybe you’ll change your mind,’” Hall replied.
The actress went on to explain that she grew up studying English and journalism in college with plans of producing a news broadcast. But when her father passed away, she turned to acting to make extra money.
“My father passed away suddenly and I had a friend and she said you could make extra money — because that was a big shift for me without my dad — doing commercials,” Hall explained. “That’s actually how I started.”
She continued, “And then I realized I love it, and I think it also came at a time when I lost my dad and I wasn’t in my head. I was doing something else, so I think it was very freeing.”
Hall and Bush Hager bonded over how much they have in common after spending the last few days co-hosting Today With Jenna & Friends.
Next up, former NBA player Dwayne Wade will be joining Bush Hager on the show from March 10 to March 14.
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
