Record amount to be wagered on Super Bowl 2025

Super Bowl 2025 is expected to be sports betting’s biggest event yet.

With legal sports wagering now legal in 38 states plus Washington D.C., the American Gaming Association estimates that Americans will bet a record $1.39 billion on Sunday’s Big Game.

“No single event unites sports fans like the Super Bowl, and that excitement extends to sports betting, with this year’s record legal handle reflecting its widespread appeal,” said Bill Miller, AGA President and CEO. “This figure underscores the positive impact of the legal market—from protecting consumers to generating tax revenue that benefits communities across the country—while enhancing the game experience for all.”

Last year, sports bettors put $1.25 billion on the line during Super Bowl 2024 between the Chiefs and 49ers.

This year’s projection is an 11.2 percent increase on that number.

AGA is anticipating a massive influx of bets in the coming days, with roughly 80 percent of all bets coming this weekend and on game day.

According to BetMGM Trading Manager Christian Cipollini, Eagles money line (+110) is the most popular bet at the sportsbook with a few days to go before kickoff.

Surprisingly, neither of the quarterbacks has been the most popular when it comes to player props.

That title goes to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who are the two most bet-on players ahead of Sunday’s game.

The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday.
