Promises kept: President Trump delivers key pro-life wins

Having defeated a candidate that was the strongest proponent of expanding abortion access in history, President Trump was inaugurated declaring the start of a new golden age for America — a “revolution of common sense.” When it comes to protecting life, the first of all our rights, he is moving swiftly to deliver.

In his first week, Trump and his administration took a series of actions to dismantle the Biden-Harris administration that turned the entire federal government into an arm of the radical abortion lobby.

Immediately, the new administration took down a government website designed by the Biden administration’s Health and Human Services Department to facilitate getting abortions. That’s right — under Biden, HHS had become a promoter of abortion that profoundly disserved the people. Change could not be more welcome.

Trump then promptly withdrew the U.S. from the World Health Organization, which pushes abortion on demand for any reason — they even have an abortion app.

In another highly anticipated move, Trump fulfilled a promise to pardon 23 Americans imprisoned for peacefully protesting abortion, including grandparents, a young mother and even a concentration camp survivor. With years-long sentences, some spent more than one Christmas in jail, suffering injuries or wondering if they’d die in prison. Soon, the internet filled up with pictures and stories of joyful reunions as the pro-life advocates were finally free to go home to their loved ones.

As Trump acknowledged, these American heroes never should have been prosecuted. While unfortunately no one can give them back these precious years, we can work to stop it from happening again, and Attorney General Pam Bondi has pledged to do just that.

Trump continues to expose the extremism of the Democrats. He is outspoken on the need to end late-term abortion and infanticide. This month both chambers of Congress voted on legislation to protect babies born alive after failed abortions, yet all but one Democrat voted against it.

In stark contrast to what Joe Biden or Kamala Harris would have done, the White House issued a formal statement supporting the bill. This should give us hope that one day soon this incredibly commonsense bill, which simply requires the same life-saving medical care for babies who survive abortions as any other baby the same age, will be signed into law.

Culminating the first week, Trump (via video) and Vice President JD Vance (in person) gave encouragement to pro-life Americans all across the country in dual addresses to the March for Life, speaking of their commitment to a society that supports and values babies and moms.

Then from aboard Air Force One, Trump took actions to cement the Hyde Amendment, restore the Global Protect Life policy, and rejoin the Geneva Consensus Declaration that states there is no international right to abortion.

In short, this is a big deal. Biden and Harris spent four years turning the U.S. into a global exporter of abortion on demand. That ends now.

The Global Protect Life Rule ensures that no foreign health aid goes to organizations that perform or promote abortion, like International Planned Parenthood Federation, but is redirected to support life and health instead. Meanwhile the Declaration bolsters our international allies against pressure from the pro-abortion United Nations, among others, to weaken their protections for unborn children and women.

Now comes the news that the Trump administration has ended Biden’s illegal policy of funding abortion travel in the Department of Defense. All of this is in line with the strong majority of Americans who oppose bankrolling the of the abortion industry, at home or abroad.

This is but a preview of the possibilities for life with a new administration, strong pro-life leadership in the House and Senate, and a Cabinet dedicated to Trump’s pro-life agenda, including Bondi, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and many others.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., too, committed during his hearing to implement policies at HHS to stop funding the abortion industry and experiments using aborted babies’ bodies, investigate safety concerns with abortion drugs, and more.

We’re hopeful we could finally halt the obscene amounts of taxpayer dollars spent propping up abortion giant Planned Parenthood — a priority for the Department of Government Efficiency — and the millions of lives they’ve ended over the years. And instead of a federal government weaponized to expand abortion and silence dissent, we look forward to one that works for mothers and children, not against them.

Thank you, President Trump, and let the golden age for life begin.
