Jon Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer, former Obama advisors and the hosts of “Pod Save America,” slammed Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.)’s idea to rename Greenland “Red, White, and Blueland,” saying the “stupidest f—— people” are currently in charge of the government.
Carter introduced a bill on Tuesday that would allow President Trump to take control of Greenland, a semiautonomous country that is currently controlled by Denmark.
“I learned about this directly from you this morning at our production meeting, and I laughed so hard,” Pfeiffer said in his comments on the podcast, as highlighted by Mediaite.
The legislation, titled the “Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025,” instructs Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to oversee the implementation of the name change and to ensure official documentation and maps refer to Greenland by its updated name.
Trump has previously expressed interest in the U.S. acquiring Greenland.
The legislation would also enable Trump to enter into negotiations with Denmark “to purchase or otherwise acquire Greenland.”
“America is back and will soon be bigger than ever with the addition of Red, White, and Blueland,” Carter said in a statement issued after he introduced the bill.
“President Trump has correctly identified the purchase of what is now Greenland as a national security priority, and we will proudly welcome its people to join the freest nation to ever exist when our Negotiator-in-Chief inks this monumental deal,” he added.
Criticizing the bill, Pfeiffer said it was just a ploy to rile up supporters of the MAGA movement, similar to the renaming of French fries to “freedom fries.”
“It’s obviously freedom fries type stuff,” he said.
“And if you ever just want to just have an interesting experience, find a much younger person and try to explain to them the time in American history 20 years ago when we renamed all of our French fries freedom fries because France would not follow us into a really stupid and losing war.”
