Passenger infuriated after booking ‘window’ seat on a 5-hour flight

A traveler boarded the plane for his five-hour flight to find an important part of his window seat was missing: the window.

The unfortunate flyer took to Reddit to share a picture of the windowless wall by his head and admitted in a comment that he’ll “live” — he was just “mildly infuriated” by the unlucky occurrence.

The post garnered lots of traction from people who shared that they had similar experiences.

“Happened to me when I was flying from El Califate to Baraloche. The entire way was a stunning view of mountains and mountains. Our row was the only one without a window,” one person shared.

They continued, “I could only see a sliver of it from the window in front of us and behind. It was one of the most beautiful views from a plane I’ve ever seen.”

“Oof. That happened to me a few months ago on a 16 hour flight,” a user commented.

“This has happened to me twice this year! I went to New York for the first time, and I was the only one on the plane who did not get to see the Statue of Liberty when we were descending,” someone else shared.

According to experts, whether or not your window seat will actually deliver on a soaring view is a matter of chance, and depends on the aircraft model, internal structure and seat configuration, which varies from plane to plane.

Others made lighthearted jokes to try to cheer the man up.

“On the plus side you can’t get sucked out of the window,” someone quipped.

“It’s better than having no aisle right?” another joked.

“It’s BYOW [Bring Your Own Window] seat,” one commented.

“They should change it to Aisle, Middle, Wall,” added another.

One even drew a window on the photo, adding emojis of clouds, a parrot, a rooster and a UFO. The original poster responded, “Thank you this helped.”
