Pamela Anderson Says ‘The Last Showgirl’ Is “The Best Payback” After “Hurtful” ‘Pam & Tommy” Series

Pamela Anderson has described her role in The Last Showgirl as “life-changing” and referred to the Gia Coppola-directed film as “the best payback” in response to Hulu’s 2022 limited series Pam & Tommy, which she has criticized.

Speaking with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, Anderson reiterated her discomfort with the Lily James and Sebastian Stan-led series, saying she found it “so strange,” “hurtful,” and “so bizarre.”

Reflecting on the project, she said, “I think ethically it’s illegal. But I mean, it’s kind of fair game. I remember people telling me a long time ago that you are basically public property and you have no right to privacy.”

Despite her lack of involvement in Pam & Tommy, which was based on a 2014 Rolling Stone article about the infamous release of her and Tommy Lee’s sex tape, Anderson noted that Hulu has not reached out to her to address the situation.

While promoting her new memoir and cookbook, she remarked, “I don’t dwell on it, but it was kind of a strange thing to pick a very terrible time of my life and make entertainment.”

Anderson also pointed out the irony of others winning accolades for portraying her. Referencing a comment from Deadline’s Pete Hammond, she said, “All these people have won awards basically playing you, but not you.”

She clarified that she doesn’t blame the actors involved, adding, “It’s not the actor’s fault, I mean, I’m sure she’s a great actress and stuff. I don’t care, it’s just one of those things. It happened, and now I’m here, and this is the best payback. I’m being seen and recognized for my work and not these tawdry moments.”

Pam & Tommy, which received nine Emmy nominations and won for makeup, was developed after producers secured the rights to the Rolling Stone article detailing the events surrounding the tape’s illicit release.
