The husband of an Oregon woman who vanished with her two dogs while hiking — mere weeks after filing for divorce — has been arrested for her murder.
Michel Fournier, 71, was charged Friday with the murder of Susan Lane-Fournier, 61, who went missing in Mount Hood National Forest late last month, KGW8 reported.
Susan was reported missing when she failed to show up to work on Nov. 22.
She had filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years on Oct. 31, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The couple was still legally married at the time of her disappearance and death.
Officials launched a search for her and two large Malinois-mix dogs, but called it off Nov. 26. Her truck was later found along the side of a road.
Last Friday, a week after Susan was first reported missing, a passerby told police she found a woman’s body — later identified as Susan — along the side of the highway.
Neighbors told KGW8 that while couple mostly kept to themselves, things were noticibly bad between the pair.
“They were expecting it; a lot of people talked about domestic violence,” neighbor Betty Swan-DeLong told the outlet. “The other thing was everyone wants to know where the dogs are.”
Susan’s two dogs, Elrond and Elros, are still missing, according to police.
