Taylor Ann Green shocked Southern Charm fans when she revealed on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live that Olivia Flowers had reached out to her back when filming for Season 10 started, despite their falling out in Season 9. DECIDER recently caught up with Flowers, who explained why she decided to send Green a text.
“I had one of the producers reach out to me and just were kind of like telling me like, ‘Hey, I know you and Taylor aren’t in the best place, but she’s kind of going through it. I think it would mean a lot if you reach out and just let her know you’re thinking about her and you’re there,’” Flowers said when she visited our studio.
While the two women were once extremely close, their friendship came to an end after Green kissed Flowers’ ex-situationship, Austen Kroll. After the Season 9 reunion, it seemed as though they would never be able to mend fences. But now that enough time has passed, Flowers said there’s “no bad blood” between them.
“I don’t wish ill for her. I do want her to do well regardless of what our status is,” Flowers said. “And so I just sent that, texted her, and reconnected and that was that. But we haven’t talked since.”
As for whether she’d be willing to meet up with Green in person, the former Southern Charm star said the “door is a bit more open than it was before.”
“I don’t think it’ll ever be what it was because, at the end of the day, I really do just value having authentic and genuine friendships that aren’t complicated,” she said. “And watching that season back, I learned a lot about that friendship, watching the episodes back. And friendships aren’t supposed to be complicated. They aren’t supposed to be tricky.”
“So, if we move forward in a surface-level kind of way where we can be kind to each other, that’s fine,” Flowers continued. “But, you know, I don’t think it’ll ever be what it was.”
Flowers, who announced her exit from Southern Charm ahead of Season 10, also said she would “take back” calling Green the “C-word” at the reunion. “That was uncomfortable to say on camera,” she added with a giggle.
Green, for her part, told DECIDER she was “really, really happy” when Flowers reached out to “check in” on her. “I was really upset [when she left Southern Charm], honestly, because that was really the whole reason why I wanted to come back — so that we could have reconciliation not just for the viewer to see, but for myself and for herself,” Green said.
While Flowers thought it would’ve been “interesting” for viewers to see them rebuild their friendship on Southern Charm, she said her first priority was “reaching out on a human connection level.”
You can catch Flowers in her web series Off-Season, which streams on YouTube.
