Natalie “Nadya” Suleman’s oldest daughter admitted that she secretly found her biological father behind the famous mom’s back.
The children of Suleman, who made headlines after welcoming the world’s first surviving octuplets in 2009, shared their experience of growing up without knowing their biological dads on Monday’s episode of “Confessions of Octomom.”
Suleman conceived her first six children via in-vitro fertilization from a donor who was a “platonic” friend she unexpectedly met at a club while the father of her octuplets was an anonymous donor from a sperm bank.
Amerah, a 22-year-old conceived from the first donor, quietly went on social media to see if she could find any clues about her mom’s friend who fathered her.
“I actually found him on Facebook when I was like 12,” Amerah shared. “I did reach out to him. My mom had no idea that I did that.
“And then my biological father reached out to my mom’s best friend, which then reached out to my mom. And my mom spoke to me, and she was like, if you want to know him when you’re 18, go for it. Reach out. And she said, ‘He’s more than happy to get to know you, just whenever you’re ready.’”
However, Amerah has yet to formally meet her father — and has no plans to schedule a meet-up.
“I never felt the need to,” she said. “I don’t have the need to get to know him, not because — I just don’t know him. He’s a stranger. I understood why he didn’t want to be in our lives after the eight came and that’s it. But I know he was a good friend to my mom.”
Amerah’s 21-year-old brother, Joshua, wasn’t too concerned about knowing the identity of his father.
“I was personally never interested in who my biological father was,” Joshua stated. “She explained to me that it was, or he was, a friend of hers. A donor. That’s all I needed to know.”
Octuplets Nariyah, Jonah, and Maliyah chimed in, adding that they weren’t really curious about their anonymous dad either.
“We’ve never really needed like a father figure because we have mom and we have God,” Nariyah said.
“He’s just a frozen donor that we don’t know at all” Maliyah added.
Nadya welcomed octuplets Noah, Josiah, Nariyah, Maliyah, Jonah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Makai in 2009 after disgraced Dr. Michael Kamrava implanted 12 embryos during her rounds of In vitro fertilization (IVF) – a shockingly high amount of embryos as the American Society for Reproductive Medicine recommends only transferring one to five embryos depending on the age of the woman.
The octuplets’ older siblings are Elijah, 23, Ameerah, 22, Joshua, 21, Aidan, 18, and 17-year-old twins Caleb and Calyssa.
