Ed Kelce is excited to see what Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift do with the blank space in their schedules.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s dad said on Australia’s “Today” show Thursday that he believes the couple is headed for a “good period” in their relationship after this weekend’s 2025 Super Bowl.
“Without the NFL season, without the Eras Tour, [it will be] just them alone really connecting more,” Ed explained.
Swift’s record-breaking tour ended in December 2024 after nearly two years, with 149 shows spanning five continents.
“I think that can only be a good thing,” Ed noted.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Kelce patriarch sidestepped a question about his youngest son, 35, possibly proposing to Swift.
Co-host Karl Stefanovic jokingly asked about an engagement in order to “book his fare,” with Ed quipping, “Did you really think I was going to come up with that?”
He also refrained from revealing whether Swift, also 35, will do a surprise performance Sunday since he has “no idea.”
Ed claimed, “I haven’t talked to Taylor this week. I have no idea what her plans are. I would let her publicist talk to you about that.”
He went on to call the “smart young lady … a joy to be around” and gushed over her football knowledge.
“She’s learning much more,” Ed explained. “She’s watching football with her dad, [Scott Swift], a lot. She’s watching football whenever she can.”
He shared a “funny” story from when “the Chiefs were in the red zone” one game, recalling, “They had … to go for a field goal. And I’m sitting there thinking, ‘I hate field goals.’ And Taylor comes back and says, ‘I’ll take the points.’
“I’m thinking, ‘Look at you. A year ago, you didn’t know a field goal from an extra point, and now you’re doing all this football talk.’ So I think she’s enjoying the game.”
Ed has had nothing but nice things to say about Swift since Travis began dating the pop star in the summer of 2023.
In February 2024, Ed praised the Grammy winner as a “very gracious” person in a Los Angeles Times interview.
He insisted to People four months prior that Swift is not a “diva,” as the “very, very sweet, very charming, down-to-earth young woman” often picks up trash in the Arrowhead Stadium suite.
Ed has attended multiple games with Swift, as well as one of her concerts — and both will be at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome as the Chiefs play the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL championship game.
