This week’s new movies on demand are an assortment of weird and wonderful titles, includng the papal thriller Conclave, the Florence Pugh-Andrew Garfield romance We Live in Time, the animated Hitpig! about a bounty-hunting pig and Tom Hanks and Robin Wright’s onscreen reunion in Here. And if you’re in the mood for holiday screams, there’s always Terrifier 3.
Terrifier 3, out now on demand, is the third film in the Terrifier series that features Art, a killer clown. A quick Terrifier 2 refresher for you: yes, Art the Clown was decapitated at the end of the film, but one of his near-victims, Victoria Heyes, actually gave birth to his disembodied head which he reattaches so that the events of Terrifier 3 can take place. If that’s not a perfect way to keep this series going, I don’t know how else to make you care about it.
These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Conclave is a who’s who of people who you’re pretty sure have already been in a movie kind of like this one: Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and John Lithgow all star as members of a papal conclave who convene to choose the next Pope. As they consider the candidates, secrets and lies about the dead Pope and some of the men lining up to be his successor start to spill out. With Isabella Rossellini as the nun.
To those of us who grew up in the 1980s, Berkeley Breathed is most familiar as the creator of Sunday funnies staple Bloom County, but the cartoonist and author has plenty of other projects that don’t involve Opus the Penguin, including Hitpig! The new animated feature is based on Breathed’s 2008 book Pete & Pickles, and features the voice of Jason Sudeikis at Hitpig, a bount-hunting pig who’s hired to capture a dancing elephant named Pickles (Lily Singh), but the two ultimately end up on an adventure that leads them to a circus in Las Vegas. RuPaul, Flavor Flave, Anitta and Rainn Wilson all co-star.
