Disney+ has unveiled a brand new trailer for March’s Daredevil: Born Again that reunites Charlie Cox‘s Matt Murdock with Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin), Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle (aka The Punisher), Wilson Bethel‘s Bullseye, and so many more fan favorites from Netflix’s beloved, long-cancelled Daredevil series. The new trailer also teases tons of brutal action sequences, at least one steamy love scene, and the promise of more vigilante action from the blind superhero. In short, it’s exactly what Marvel fans are hoping for from Disney+’s attempt to literally resurrect the best of Netflix’s defunct Defenders shows.
According to Disney’s official press released, Daredevil: Born Again will follow Matt Murdock, “a blind lawyer with heightened abilities” who is “fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavors in New York.” The new trailer not only confirms what fans have long known, that Fisk will ascend the political ladder to become mayor of New York City, but that Matt’s quest for justice will push him to reclaim the mantle of Daredevil, a vigilante who stalks the streets of Hell’s Kitchen punishing those who slip through the cracks of the legal system.
The new teaser notably offers fans glimpses of Wilson Fisk reunited with his beloved wife Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer), the return of Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), and the introduction of new characters, including one played by Michael Gandolfini. Of course, what devotees of Netflix’s Marvel shows will likely be most buzzed about is a tense tete-a-tete mid-teaser between Matt Murdock and Frank Castle. When the cornered Matt asks the vigilante known as the Punisher to drop the hatchet, Frank swings it close to his head.
