Melania Trump on advising husband: 'Sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn't, and that's okay'

Incoming first lady Melania Trump said in an interview broadcast early Monday she sometimes disagrees with decisions her husband, President-elect Trump, makes, adding that she feels free to express her view to him.

“Maybe some people, they see me as just a wife of the president, but I’m standing on my own two feet, independent. I have my own thoughts. I have my own yes and no,” the incoming first lady said in an interview on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.”

“I don’t always agree what my husband is saying or doing, and that’s okay,” she continued.

“I give him my advice, and sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn’t, and that’s okay.”

Melania Trump also reflected on her mindset going into her second term as the country’s first lady.

“I feel I was always me, the first time as well. I just feel that people didn’t accept me, maybe. They didn’t understand me the way maybe they do now, and I didn’t have much support,” Melania Trump said, when asked if she is in a different space now.

The incoming first lady said she also feels more comfortable since she is familiar with the White House and has had experience in the post.

She added that she plans to expand her “Be Best” campaign, noting a lack of support for it during her husband’s first term.

“I will continue with Be Best, and also I will expand Be Best. I started… in the first administration, I didn’t have much support from anyone. I invited all of the streaming platforms to the White House, I had a round table, and I didn’t have much support from them,” Melania Trump said.

“Imagine what we could do in those years if they will rally behind me and teach the children and do protect them about the social media and their mental health,” she continued.
