Meghan McCain Rips Meghan Markle For “Ill-Advised” Netflix Series: “Do Something To Help People Instead Of Your Ego”

Meghan McCain and Meghan Markle may share a first name, but certainly not the same level of excitement for the latter’s new Netflix series.

Following the release of the With Love, Meghan trailer on Thursday (Jan. 2), McCain took to X to share her thoughts. While acknowledging that she “was originally a Meghan Markle supporter” and “thought she was cool, stylish and refreshing,” The View alum claimed that “like the rest of the world [her] opinion changed when [Markle] disrespected the royal family.”

“Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored.” she continued. “All of this even in the trailer is highly curated, produced and out of touch.”

According to the streamer’s logline, the series “reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.” The show will feature Markle “shar[ing] personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlight[ing] how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected.”

McCain doubled down on her argument that the series feels out of touch, noting that “there have been 2 terror attacks in 2 days, major wars raging and Americans can’t pay for groceries.”

“We are a country in rage, uncertainty and intensity right now,” she added. “This concept is ill advised. I would have told her to do a show helping bring fresh food to food deserts in low income neighborhoods. Do something to help people instead of your ego. This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment.”

While some agreed with McCain’s critiques, others pointed out Markle’s previous cooking content that she’s shared on social media, highlighting posts of hers from 2014 and 2015. Per the New York Post, Markle returned to Instagram this week with a new account.

Guests that will be joining Markle on her new show include Roy Choi, Mindy Kaling, and Alice Waters.

With Love, Meghan debuts on Netflix Jan. 15.
