Luka Doncic wanted to make sure no one missed what he had in store for his former team.
The new Lakers superstar and Jordan Brand provided Los Angeles fans with a free parking lot for the 107-99 win over the Mavericks on Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena his first game against his former team since being traded, as seen in several photos posted to social media.
The lot featured a purple-and-white sign that read “Free parking” and “Courtesy Of Luka” with the Jumpman logo next to the wording.
“Just got free parking right across the arena lol shoutout Luka!!! Incredible stuff 👏👏👏,” X user @GoldenKnightGFX posted Tuesday night.
The parking lot marked just one part of Jordan Brand’s spectacle for the night.
The company released a video featuring a purple and yellow car that had a “Texas 77” license plate, only to be swapped to a “California 77” plate.
“Full tank. No mercy,” the promo stated at the end.
That car featured “77” — Doncic’s number — on the side and the Jumpman logo on the hood. It pulled up outside the arena for the Western Conference matchup.
Doncic ultimately delivered for his new fans, registering his first triple-double as a Laker by tallying 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists.
The superstar guard clearly is not over the blockbuster trade, with Doncic staring down the Mavericks bench after hitting a long 3 in the first quarter.
The Mavericks have said both on the record and through sources some unflattering things about their former star, questioning his work ethic, health and ability to manage his weight.
The latest digs included Doncic having a “taste for beer and hookah,” as reported by The Athletic.
We’re assuming Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison did not take advantage of the free parking, but he attended Tuesday’s contest.
“It was so weird the moments, felt like I don’t know what I was doing,” Doncic said after the game. “I’m glad we got the win.”
