President Trump on Saturday is set to deliver the closing speech of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in National Harbor, Md., an appearance that comes just over a month into his new term.
The president has already sparked controversy with a flurry of early moves, including the gutting of USAID and mass layoffs across the federal government, as well his escalating criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
His appearance comes after his close ally, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, appeared on the CPAC stage Thursday wielding a chainsaw and defending his efforts to downsize the federal bureaucracy.
