'Little House on the Prairie' star claps back at Megyn Kelly: 'TV doesn't get too much more "woke"'

“Little House on the Prairie” star Melissa Gilbert is hitting back at Megyn Kelly after the conservative commentator expressed concern that Netflix would “wokeify” its reboot of the classic Western TV drama.

“@Netflix if you wokeify Little House on the Prairie I will make it my singular mission to absolutely ruin your project,” Kelly wrote on X this week following the media giant’s announcement that it was “reimagining” the novels by Laura Ingalls Wilder as part of a new adaptation.

“Apparently Megyn tweeted (I’m not on that platform) asking that Netflix not ‘woke-Ify’ their Little House remake,” Gilbert, a child actor on the original 1970s TV series based on the books, wrote in a Thursday post on Instagram.

“Ummm…watch the original again,” she added.

“TV doesn’t get much more ‘woke’ than we did. We tackled: racism, antisemitism, misogyny, rape, spousal abuse and every other ‘woke’ topic you can think of,” the 60-year-old performer said.

Netflix described the forthcoming project as part of its “slate of wholesome and heartwarming stories for fans to cozy up with,” saying the series will “offer a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”
