I had forgotten all about posting this Lego limited edition Jane Austen kit I put together last year. It was part of the centerpiece I used because I voluteere to host a table at last years women’s Spring luncheon. I originally was going to do a classic book centerpiece. When my daughter got this set free as part of her Lego subscription honoring Jane Austen she gave it to me and challenged me to have done in time for the luncheon and let that be centerpiece. Mind you I hadn’t played with Legos since my girls were little. And I used to think themed sets were silly and not creative. That is until I saw the amazing kits my daughter had put together over the years. She did a Sesame Street kit that I think had 500+ pieces which is my favorite.
Well I’m letting you know that kit wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. Some of the pieces were super tiny. It had 361 pieces and I cannot tell you how many times I took sections apart because I made a mistake and if you make a mistake you must figure out where you made the mistake. Otherwise the other pieces won’t eork. It took me close to a month to finish the kit. I was still putting the last few pieces in the day before the luncheon.
Even though I was frustrated I think I enjoyed it and if the sets weren’t so expensive I might be inspired to build another one. The Lego set of Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting is close to $200! I think for now I will stick to crocheting and coloring books for adults. Oh in case you were wondering this set is made to look like an open book.
