Kelly Ripa Hints ‘Live’ Viewers May Get To See Mark Consuelos “In His Underwear” If They Attend Their Post-Oscars Show

Apparently some lucky Live fans got a special sighting of Mark Consuelos ahead of last year’s post-Oscars special.

While promoting their upcoming After the Oscars show on Monday’s Live with Kelly and Mark — which will feature appearances from Jerry O’Connell and Nikki Glaser, as well as a performance from Steve Aoki and Lil Jon — Consuelos and Kelly Ripa remembered how early people begin lining up for last year’s show, noting that “it’s around 3:30, four in the morning.”

In fact, Ripa recalled waking Consuelos up on the morning of last year’s special, which marked Consuelos’ first After the Oscars show as Live co-host, and the first time he “didn’t go to the parties.”

“Because for the first time ever, Mark realized what a big job it is to host the Oscars show,” she explained. “For many years, when I was like, ‘I can’t go to the party with you. I really have to host this show. I’m going to be exhausted.’ He’s like, ‘You’re a real killjoy.’”

Consuelos teased, “I was like, ‘C’mon. Go to one.’”

Ripa continued, “‘Go to one party! What’s the big deal?’”

Ripa told Live how after waking Consuelos up, she brought him to the window of their hotel room to see the “crowd lined up.”

“He said, ‘Where are they going to put all those people?’ And I said, ‘It’s a pretty big theatre,’” she said, referring to the famous Dolby Theater where the awards show and their post-Oscars special are both held.

Consuelos revealed, “I was in my underwear. I made eye contact with a few people.” Ripa confirmed that “people were waving to Mark in his underwear.”

“So come to see Mark in his underwear,” she quipped.

Consuelos joked, “If you’re in line, just look up. You might get a surprise.”

Ripa teased, “You do get a full show before the show. It’s amazing. I’m in my mouth guard, Mark’s in his underpants.”

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. Check out their website for your local listings.
